The February 10th update discloses that the first shareholder drill was completed and includes a picture of a drill truck.
Previous Utah OSR updates noted the purchase of a Village Drill, which was expected to lessen the cost of drilling each well. What is the status of the Village Drill? Is it available for use by shareholders? If so, is there a sign-up list or price per use or how is this determined?
Here’s the update on the Village Drill:
– The co-op does own one.
– When we originally purchased the drill, we did not anticipate the recent rise in cost of materials, state regulations, and manpower requirements — all of which drive up the cost of using the Village Drill. It still is likely to be somewhat less expensive than the typical well drilling methods.
– Due to those state regulations and manpower requirements, it is likely that the absolute soonest anyone could use the drill is sometime in July of 2021, and probably later.
