The “Operation Self-Reliance” is an initiative focused on helping families transition from dependence on modern urban infrastructure to sustainable, community-based self-reliance. Rooted in lessons about vulnerability to resource disruptions and the limits of individual preparedness, the cooperative promotes a model where like-minded families work together to secure land, water, food production, housing, energy, sanitation, and essential services. Its guiding principle is that true preparedness requires knowledge, practical skills, and cooperative structures that enable people to provide for long-term needs while remaining debt-free and resilient in the face of economic, environmental, or social disruptions.

The cooperatives function as an agricultural land co-op in which members collectively own a large property and receive exclusive use of smaller self-reliant parcels—typically around two acres—designed to support food production, renewable energy, housing, and cottage industries. By pooling resources, members reduce development costs, create shared businesses and services, and generate local jobs and income. The model also integrates education and training through the Academy of Self-Reliance, which teaches sustainable agriculture, construction methods, health practices, and project-management skills needed to build durable, self-sufficient communities.

Beyond individual homesteads, the OSR Land Cooperatives envision a holistic rural community that includes schools, health and wellness services, assisted living, child support programs, and therapeutic facilities, all supported by shared land and infrastructure. Overall, the cooperatives aim to create a scalable, principle-based pathway for families seeking healthier, safer, and more independent lifestyles grounded in cooperation, stewardship of natural resources, and long-term sustainability.
